Mike Maden’s Second Jack Ryan Jr. Novel To Hit Bookstores Next June (With Plot Details)

We broke the news earlier this year that there was a major shakeup underway in the Tom Clancy universe. Not only did Marc Cameron replace Mark Greaney (who’d been writing the Jack Ryan Sr. books for years) but, likewise, Mike Maden has taken over for Grant Blackwood and is now in charge of the Junior books.

Since we ran that announcement in February, Maden’s first contribution to Tom Clancy’s legendary franchise, Tom Clancy Point of Contact, was released in June and enjoyed a lengthy stay on the New York Times best-sellers list after debuting at #3 for hardcover fiction. Now, Maden is gearing up to release his second Jack Ryan Junior novel, Tom Clancy Line of Sight, which is scheduled for publication on June 5th, 2018.

I reached out to Mike Maden over the weekend, who told me, “I can’t wait for readers to experience Jack Jr.’s new adventure in the Balkans. The past is prologue, indeed.”

While readers will have to wait until next June to know what exactly Maden means by “the past is prologue,” fans can see the action-packed plot details–and a first look at the cover art–for Tom Clancy Line of Sight below.

Jack Ryan Jr. finds that the scars of war can last a lifetime in this latest entry in the #1 New York Times bestselling series.

Twenty years ago, Dr. Kathy Ryan restored the eyesight of a young Bosnian girl who had been injured during an attack in the Balkan War. Today, her son, Jack Ryan Jr. has decided to surprise his mother by tracking down the young lady. What he finds shocks them both.

The helpless child has grown into a remarkable woman. Aida Curić is a self-possessed beauty who runs a refugee agency that helps the children of her native Bosnia. Jack finds himself drawn to her, but before he can act on his feelings she’s snatched off the streets of Sarajevo by kidnappers.

In Jack’s desperate search for Aida, he finds himself opposed by everyone from Serbian mobsters to Croatian paramilitary units. The Balkan War may have ended two decades ago, but the region still seethes with ethnic animosities. The deeper Jack plunges into this world the more he faces a disturbing truth, the scars of war fester long after the surface has healed.

Tom Clancy Line of Sight is the twenty-fifth novel set in Clancy’s rich universe. And while next June is a long ways away, fans still have Marc Cameron’s first Jack Ryan novel, Tom Clancy Power and Empire, which comes out on November 28th, to look forward to.
