EXCLUSIVE: Jack Carr’s Second Novel Scheduled for Early 2019 Release (with Details)

How good is Jack Carr’s first book? Well, #1 New York Times bestselling author Brad Thor called The Terminal List, which came out earlier this year, “one of the best debut thrillers ever,” and readers seem to agree. Now, Carr, a former Navy SEAL, is gearing up to release his second book, titled True Believer, which is scheduled for publication next April (though that date could change).

For those who’ve yet to pick up a copy of The Terminal List, don’t wait a second longer. (Seriously, order your copy here!) Written in the same vein as Vince Flynn’s Term Limits, Carr has exploded onto the political thriller scene, introducing readers to Navy SEAL James Reece, a compelling new hero who loses his family and his men when he finds himself in the middle of a murderous conspiracy that stretches to the highest points of the United States government. Reece ends up a broken man, albeit one with a devastatingly lethal set of skills, and he sets out to settle the score with everyone who had a hand in killing those around him.

(Warning: If you haven’t read The Terminal List, stop reading. The plot details for book two allude to a spoiler from the first book, which you might want to avoid.)

In True Believer, Reece is back for more action, but the events of The Terminal List still follow him as he attempts to move on with his life. Carr recently posted on social media about finishing the first draft of his second book (which will be published by Atria/Emily Bestler Books), and I caught up with him over Father’s Day weekend to find out more about his sophomore novel. Speaking exclusively to The Real Book Spy, Carr said: “I am so excited to have sent off the first draft of my new thriller, True Believer, to Emily Bestler at Emily Bestler Books!”

“This one takes the action international,” continued Carr. “While The Terminal List was all about revenge without constraint and a warrior becoming the insurgent he’d been fighting for the past seventeen years, True Believer is about redemption. Its inspiration comes from a real-world experience in Iraq which allowed me to continue incorporating actual emotions into my writing through the medium of the political-military thriller! I am so humbled and grateful for the response to The Terminal List and I can’t wait to share this next adventure with readers.”

Jack Carr Book 2In acclaimed author Jack Carr’s follow-up to The Terminal List, former Navy SEAL James Reece’s skill, cunning, and heroism put the US government back in his debt and set him on another path of revenge.

When a string of horrific terrorist attacks plagues the Western world during the holiday season, the broader markets fall into a tailspin. The attacks are being coordinated by a shadowy former Iraqi commando who has disappeared into Europe’s underground. The United States government has an asset who can turn the Iraqi against his masters: James Reece, the most-wanted domestic terrorist alive.

After avenging the deaths of his family and team members, Reece emerges deep in the wilds of Mozambique, protected by the family of his estranged best friend and former SEAL Team member. When a series of events uncovers his whereabouts, the CIA recruits him, using a Presidential pardon for Reece and immunity for the friends who helped him in his mission of vengeance.

Now a reluctant tool of the United States government, Reece travels the globe, targeting terrorist leaders and unraveling a geopolitical conspiracy that exposes a traitorous CIA officer and uncovers a sinister assassination plot with worldwide repercussions.

A high-intensity roller-coaster ride, True Believer explodes with action and authenticity that cements Jack Carr as the new leader in political thrillers.
