Devoted, the highly-anticipated new thriller from New York Times bestselling author Dean Koontz, is scheduled for release on March 31, 2020.
Koontz, who made headlines a few months ago after switching publishers and becoming the latest powerhouse to sign with the Amazon imprint Thomas & Mercer after inking a five-book deal, released The Night Window, the fifth book in his Jane Hawk series, in early 2019. At the time, well before his move to Amazon, there was speculation that Jane would be put on the back-burner, possibly maybe even for good.
With the future of the Hawk franchise still up in the air, one thing is for certain, Devoted will not continue those characters, but instead, kick off a new series by introducing readers to Megan Bookman, an artist who was recently widowed, along with her dog—a golden retriever named Kipp—and her son, Woody, a “brilliant but unspeaking autistic boy who seeks vengeance against his father’s killers.”
Check out the plot details below.
From Dean Koontz, the international bestselling master of suspense, comes an epic thriller about a terrifying threat to humanity and the singular compassion it will take to defeat it.
Woody Bookman hasn’t spoken a word in his eleven years of life. Not when his father died in a freak accident. Not when his mother, Megan, tells him she loves him. For Megan, keeping her boy safe and happy is what matters. But Woody believes a monstrous evil was behind his father’s death and now threatens him and his mother. And he’s not alone in his thoughts. An ally unknown to him is listening.
A uniquely gifted dog with a heart as golden as his breed, Kipp is devoted beyond reason to people. When he hears the boy who communicates like he does, without speaking, Kipp knows he needs to find him before it’s too late.
Woody’s fearful suspicions are taking shape. A man driven by a malicious evil has set a depraved plan into motion. And he’s coming after Woody and his mother. The reasons are primal. His powers are growing. And he’s not alone. Only a force greater than evil can stop what’s coming next.
Dean Koontz is the author of many #1 bestsellers. His books have sold over five hundred million copies in thirty-eight languages, and The Times (of London) has called him a “literary juggler.” He lives in Southern California with his wife, Gerda, their golden retriever, Elsa, and the enduring spirits of their goldens Trixie and Anna.
