Get ready for a plenty more of the Gray Man, because Mark Greaney just signed a new three-book deal with his longtime publisher, Berkley, ensuring his series will continue through at least 2022.

Since releasing his debut novel, The Gray Man — which introduced readers to former CIA assassin Courtland Gentry, aka the Gray Man — in 2009, Greaney has been one of the hardest working writers in the thriller genre, cranking out a total of fourteen novels in under ten years, including seven Jack Ryan books set in Tom Clancy’s iconic universe.

This year, Greaney will be more active than ever, with two books set to hit store shelves in 2019, including his eighth Gray Man thriller, Mission Critical, and his first standalone novel, Red Metal, which he co-authored with LtCol H. Ripley Rawlings IV.

After news of his deal broke earlier in the week, I reached out to Greaney (represented by Scott Miller of Trident Media Group), who told me, “I couldn’t be happier to be writing three more Gray Man novels for Tom Colgan and his amazing team at Berkley.”

“When Tom first bought The Gray Man back in 2008, I had no illusions whatsoever that the series would eventually hit the NYT list and it would still be going strong past 2020. I have a lot of plans for Court Gentry, and I will do my best to reward readers for their support in me by making the next three Gray Man novels, the best three so far.”

I also reached out to Greaney’s editor, Tom Colgan, Vice President and Editorial Director, Berkley Publishing Group, who said “The entire Berkley team is overjoyed at the opportunity to work on three more Gray Man novels with Mark. He’s an enormously talented author who has shown remarkable growth with each book. We’re a month out from the publication of Mission Critical and I can honestly say, I can’t wait. His fans are going to love this one. I know I did.”

While fans will have to wait until this summer to get their hands on Red Metal, the Gray Man’s return is just a month away, with Mission Critical (read my review here) slated for release on February 19th. Following last year’s Agent in Place, Greaney’s latest novel is his biggest, most daring and action-packed thriller to date, and one of the most anticipated thrillers of the year.  If you haven’t already, pre-order your copy here or anywhere else books are sold.
