Gregg Hurwitz Re-Ups with Minotaur Books for Three More Orphan X Novels

It’s a big week for bestselling author Gregg Hurwitz.

First, Hurwitz’s fourth novel in his mega-popular Orphan X series is set to drop on Tuesday. Without question, Out of the Dark is his most daring and boldest thriller to date, and a serious contender for best thriller of the year. On top of that, I’ve confirmed a Deadline report that Hurwitz has just signed a new three-book deal with his longtime publisher, Minotaur Books, ensuring fans will receive steady doses of Evan Smoak through 2023.

From Deadline

The series kicked off in 2016 with Orphan X, followed by The Nowhere Man and Hellbent. The Orphan X series follows Evan Smoak, who, after being pulled from his home at the age of 12, is trained in the Orphan Program as a secret government assassin. After he escapes the program he creates a new life for himself, until he is forced to complete one last mission: saving the final Orphan, as the same shadowy government forces that ran the Orphan Program attempt to wipe out any shred of evidence that it ever existed.

The Orphan X series often draws comparisons to the Jason Bourne and Jack Reacher franchises.

“The Orphan X series is hands down of the most exciting thriller series being written today,” said Andrew Martin, publisher of Minotaur Books. “Just ask any bookseller, reviewer or reader — the accolades are deafening. We are delighted to be in the Gregg Hurwitz business for the foreseeable future – and a white-hot bright future it is!”

This deal was negotiated by Minotaur Books executive editor Keith Kahla and agent Lisa Erbach Vance of the Aaron Priest Literary Agency.
