Cotton Malone Alert! New York Times bestselling author Steve Berry Posted this photo to his Facebook account today:
The caption on the photo reads:
Outgoing President Danny Daniels stopped by Once Upon A Bookseller in St. Marys, Georgia last night to talk to Steve about his future. Steve assured him he will have a great new job starting with the 2017 book, THE LOST ORDER. The book deals with the Smithsonian, the Civil War, and something really cool from our history. Steve also told President Daniels that he will finally reveal how Cotton got his name. What’s your guess about Cotton’s name?
Okay, so first of all, we have a title for next year’s book–The Lost Order –and it sounds awsome!
Secondly, we have our first details about the plot, too. Evidently The Lost Order will deal with the Smithsonian, the Civil War, and “something really cool” from our nation’s history. Whatever that might be, your guess is as good as mine. Oh, and let’s not forget that we’re also finally going to find out how Cotton Malone got his name!
I previously reported that according to a source I spoke to who was in attendance at one of Berry’s recent book signings, there’s a very strong possibility that next year’s book will be a prequel story explaining how Cotton joined Magellan Billet–the Justice Department’s top secret intelligence gathering group.
So the question now is will The Lost Order follow this year’s The 14th Colony (the eleventh book in the series) or will it take place before the first Cotton Malone thriller The Templar Legacy (2006). Either way, I’m pumped! Berry’s Cotton Malone series is fantastic, and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys historical fiction with a modern slant.
I’ll be all over Berry’s next novel, so back often for updates!
